Rockin’ Sunfish

Dedicated in Summer 2023

About the Artwork

Meet Bobber, the Rockin’ Sunfish. This piece of interactive art is a large sunfish that can be ridden by kids and adults alike. The fish was built by wood craftsman John Peterson, and the box and rocking mechanisms by Sculptor Luke Achterberg. The painting was designed by Joyce Diveley and was painted by Joyce Diveley and Kathy Edwards.

Summer of 2025, Willy and Joy joined Bobber at the Great River Landing.

Joy is a medium sized fish and was painted by Lori Ehlkes Art Class from Luther High School in Onalaska. Joy was sponsored through the generosity of John and Lind Lyche.

Willy swam in at the same time and was painted by Mary Erickson of Onalaska, and sponsored by Barb and Dave Erickson in honor of Barbs Dad, Willy Ramey who lived and worked in Onalaska his whole life!

Come ride the “Rockin’ Sunfish”, the only ones of its kind from May till October at Dash Park on the Great River Road!
